It’s no secret that I love Halloween, and I especially love enjoying the holiday with all ages, including the kids. Some Other Halloween Drinks for Kids that I’ve made for the family over the years are the Monster Mash Punch with a floating hand or Bat Brew Punch
I’m telling you the kids went crazy over this drink. It’s not just cool looking, it’s really good, too! It might be kid-friendly, but it’s delicious enough for adults to dig in. Just 2 yummy ingredients, spooky looking, and fun, fun, fun.
I’ve seen a lot of vampire blood drink recipes out there that seem like they are super fun, but this one is a vampire blood drink recipe that is non-alcoholic and super fun making it an awesome kid friendly Halloween drink. Of course, you can turn it into an adult drink easily, if that is what you want.

What I love about this Halloween Drink
- The gross effect that the syrup has when it’s pumping its’ way into the soda is so cool
- Kids and adults love it
- The flavor is delicious
- it’s easy
- You can convert this into an adult drink by adding alcohol and grenadine syrup
Here’s What You’ll Need for a Kid-Friendly Vampire Drink Idea
Ingredients
This makes 1 dozen (16 oz.) drinks
- 2 Liters of Clear Lemon Lime Flavored Soda, such as Sprite or 7UP *Sprite is definitely my preferred soda. I’ve tried it with others, and the taste just wasn’t the same
- Cherry Kool-Aid liquid (the concentrated stuff) or GRENADINE SYRUP – they sell the Kool-Aid little squeeze bottles of concentrated Kool-Aid at most grocery stores and you can find grenadine syrup near the alcohol mixers
- Medicine Syringes– These will look like Viles for the blood
- Ice Cubes – lots – enough to pack each glass or cup
- cups or glasses that are clear to see the Vampire drinks in their full glory
How do you make a Vampire Drink?
- Pack the glasses with ice
- Pour soda over the ice
- Put your Vampire Teeth over the rim of the clear glass or cup
- Place a syringe filled with red concentrated kool-aid or grenadine syrup into the drink
Tips and Tricks:
- you can prepare the syringes ahead of time and load them up with concentrated Kool-aid, or grenadine syrup, but some might drip out of the syringe so have them on a protected surface
- Pack the drinks with ice to allow pathways for the syrup to travel
New and Improved Halloween Drink
In the last couple of Halloween seasons, I’ve tried to perfect the drink idea. The drink is fun and tastes good, but I struggled with the fact the technique I was using made it difficult to prepare ahead of time. The drink was easy enough for a fun “at home with the family” drink. If you are going to use this idea at parties, you can’t very well go around squirting red Kool-Aid into everyone’s drink.
Over the past two years, I’ve tried freezing the Kool-Aid into little ice cubes and vampire teeth molds. Both ideas were complete flops.
This year, I tried using an idea that I have been thinking of – filling a syringe with the Kool-Aid and it worked like a charm. Trust me when I say, I tested it over 1 dozen times. I even made a video which you can watch below. Enjoy the new and improved Vampire Drink for Kids, Teens, and Adults.
FAQs
Can I Make This Drink Ahead of Time?
Not really. It’s a drink that you should prepare while everyone is at the party and hopefully watching. Think about it like serving drinks at a bar. The bartender would do it one at a time and right in front of you.
However, you can prepare the syringes of bloody syrup ahead of time
What Can I Put in the syringe in place of concentrated Kool-Aid?
I know that you can use Grenadine syrup and have the same look and maybe even a better-tasting Shirley Temple. In theory, you should also be able to use maraschino cherry juice
Note
*Eventually, after seeing your cool drink transform before your eyes, most of the Kool-Aid will spread throughout the soda and the soda will take on a layered look. Amazingly, some of the soda will still stay separated from the Kool-Aid. The top half will probably turn a blush color, then red, then clear. The drink starts to combine as you move it around. If you let the drink sit, it will happen more gradually. I timed my drink which was sitting on the counter, for about 1/2 hour and it was still not mixed entirely. That cool definition was still there. The Kool-Aid and soda mixed together taste delicious – kind of like a Shirley Temple.

Cost: $5
Equipment
medicine syringes
16 oz. clear glass cups or heavy clear plastic cups
Ingredients
- 2 Liters Clear Lemon Lime Flavored Soda such as Sprite
- 1.6 oz. Cherry Kool-Aid liquid concentrate the concentrated stuff or GRENADINE SRYUP
- Ice Cubes enough to pack each glass or cup
Instructions
Squeeze some of the concentrated Kool-Aid into a bowl
Fill medicine syringes – each with about 2 ml. of Kool-Aid
Fill cups with ice
Pour soda into individual glasses that are
full of ice
Place fangs on top of the ice, or drape them over the side of the cup
Give out syringes of Kool-Aid concentrate or Grenadine – 1 per glass of soda filled with 2 ml. of kool-aid or syrup
The kids shouldn't have to squeeze the syringes of Kool-Aid into their drinks. They should be able to just stick the syringe of Kool-Aid into the drink. The Sprite should actually pull the Kool-aid out of the syringe all on its own. They can just sit back and watch as the Kool-Aid makes its way down through the crevices of the stacked ice giving a very bloody effect

Can I Turn this into an Adult Beverage and use alcohol?
- I have not tested it with alcohol, but you can certainly try it. I would use a cranberry-flavored Sprite, some clear vodka, and Grenadine syrup as a good start to a fun adult Vampire drink
